Drainage

The Problem

Build-up of fat, oils and grease (FOG) within drain lines, gulley's and grease traps has become a major problem, resulting in odours, overflows, blockages, environmental issues and costly utility bills. Over 65% of blockages a year are caused by these issues.

Why it happens

Everyday, especially in food processing locations, fats, oils & grease enter the drainage network as waste particles and liquids and as they cool, solidify, accumulating on pipe walls and greastraps etc.

Over time if no preventative measures are taken a build-up is formed which gradually restricts the waste water flow.

The results

As the build-up increases the drainage network effectively closes up with fat and grease preventing free flow and resulting in bad odours, slow moving drains, spill overs and finally back-ups and blockages. This can impact heavily on the efficient running of your business operation with potential shutdown and costly remedial works.

How can I prevent this

Common resorts consist pf pumping out greasetraps, high pressure jetting, mechanical chiselling and caustic chemicals. These methods are either inefficient, can damage pipes and the drainage network, hazardous and detrimental to the environment.

Becoming increasingly popular are the use of natures naturally occurring biological micro-organisms which offers a safe, effective , environmentally friendly and cost effective.

How it works

A microbiological is introduced in to your drainage network through a timed dosing system which populates the waste that accumulates inside the pipes. It is a blend of several naturally occurring strains of environmentally safe micro-organisms designed to digest grease, fats, oils, proteins and starch at an accelerated rate and turn them into harmless CO2 and water.

The micro-organisms create a biofilm which adheres to the walls of your drainage system and, unlike conventional bacterial systems is not washed away. A continuous and renewable supply of highly active micro-organisms are released into the water flow for FOG degradation. This process completely breaks down and digests the offending pollutants throughout the drainage network preventing back-ups and eliminating odours.

The Product

It is important to ensure the correct micro-organisms are selected, this is key to success with bacterial technology. Many of the chemical and enzyme solutions on todays market only liquefy grease depositing further down the drain line creating additional problems.

The majority of biological products contain weak or dormant bacteria which require 4 - 6 hours before becoming active - by this time the drain flow will have carried the bacterial solution through your drain network onto the main collection facility.

Our microbiological technology uses only correctly balanced and high quality strains which are formulated to be instantly active as they enter the drain system. This ensures maximum impact on the organic waste matter and offers an effective lasting solution.

Cost Savings

Improper disposal of fats, oils and greases (FOG) will increase the levels of BOD, COD and TSS and can result in fines and surcharges.

Charges made by your utility company are calculated using the MOGDEN formula which takes into account not only the volume of wastewater discharged but also the pollution load. A decrease in FOG, BOD, COD & TSS loadings will bring a reduction in water utilities payments.

Depending on the nature of the waste water, cost savings of up to 30 - 40% are not untypical.

Let us calculate the MOGDEN charge savings you could make by lowering your waste water pollution load.

We offer a free, no obligation survey and report showing you the benefits and cost savings you could make from the installation of our system which provides a trouble free, hygienic and lasting solution.
